Join us for a special Art Talk with Rudolph Castro, on Saturday, January 12th from 2pm to 3:30pm at Mercado369, located at 369 W. Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75208. Castro will delve deep into the process of his project, where he toured three South American countries: Argentina, Chile and Paraguay, in search of the stories by the families who experienced the violence of military regimes between the 1960 and 1990 in South America. In the latter half of the Art Talk, Castro will be joined by Dallas-based internationally known Cuban artist, Rolando Diaz and Visual Artist & Assistant Director at Kirk Hopper Fine Art, Giovanni Valderas for a discussion on how art and politics influence one another.
Following the Art Talk at Mercado369, the exhibition, “Sixty-Two Hours of Travel, Fifty-Nine Years in the South” will open at 4 pm at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, located at 223 W Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75208. Admission is free and can be seen from Jan12th through February 16th.
In this exhibition, stories of objects of great symbolic content become materials that take relevance in the light of the memories they evoke. This is how the stories of the victims speak through their objects, collected, donated and carefully chosen by Castro for the memories they contain.
